Announcement: I’m the first official Greyd Product Ambassador!

I’m incredibly excited to share this with you!

If you have been closely following me in the past year, you have probably noticed I talk about Greyd and their Suite a lot. In fact, I rarely shut up about them and their software. For good reason!

WordPress has proven to be a great foundation for enterprise level web solutions. But never have I seen a software company leveraging the power of WordPress Multisite in such a way that actually any agency can use it to grow their business, while staying close to WordPress core, and save on overhead!

The first impression

When I first came into contact with Greyd, in 2022, the presentation Thomas Koschwitz gave me of their Suite blew me away. Because of the way they separate content, layout and design, and the tool set they created that gives you endless possibilities.

This solution saves me money

Let me start with the overhead you save. You don’t need to hire or employ anyone for custom development. You can whip up a humongous number of sites in no-time and add and manage the content across these sites, even if they reside on different hosting servers.… Great to manage your customer projects, but also a lean solution for franchises and universities, for example. And even WaaS (Website as a Service) is suddenly at your fingertips.

Site and asset management is a breeze

You get to create your own pattern library, which you can use across all sites you set up. And you don’t need to leave your WordPress dashboard anymore for backups, migration, and staging. All of that can be done with a few clicks. These features alone save you countless hours. In fact, at my hourly rate, it saves me more on monthly overhead than their largest package costs.

No more third-party plugins!

As for the content: you don’t need to install third-party plugins to wrangle dynamic data. You can create custom post types, custom fields and custom taxonomies, including global ones, it is included. Advanced cross site & server search is also included. So is the possibility of conditional display of anything you put on a page.

A digital marketer’s dream come true

That’s not just relevant to assign blocks and sections to show up upon the use of a certain tag, for example. This is every digital marketer’s dream. It means you can display personalized content in such a way that you soon realize that the only thing potentially holding you back is your own imagination. Is someone coming in from UTM link A, he sees something else than someone coming in from UTM link B, or C, or… Well, I guess you catch my drift here.

They have a built-in GDPR-compliant form plugin, of which I know it is one of the most extensive in the WordPress ecosystem, including calculation and conditional fields. And then there are the integrations with CRM and newsletter systems.

Create your own custom blocks and a some inside info…

You get to build custom blocks in a visual way. And in a few weeks the visual headless API builder is coming to the Suite too!

Pffff, here I go again! I can’t help it. I’m in awe. There’s more, but I’ll get back to the original topic: Being a Greyd Ambassador.

Back to that day in 2022

I wanted nothing more than to use it as fast as I could get my hands on it, despite a deep resentment against having to learn how to use the block editor.

I can’t even begin to explain how misguided I was in that resentment. I learned to appreciate the Block editor in no-time. Which is impressive, given that I come from years and years of enthusiastically using commercial page builders like Elementor, that completely take you away from the original WordPress interface. But I’m faster in the Block and Site Editor than I have ever been in any commercial page builder. Both backend and frontend output are superfast, out of the box!

Does this mean they pay me to be an Ambassador?

No, it doesn’t. It’s a fact that I was contracted last year as their coach to guide them in making Greyd.Suite accessibility-ready. But I am definitely not paid to be their ambassador. That is something I choose to be.

Because I believe in Greyd.Suite as a product, in this team and in their philosophy. They’re hardworking, open-minded, and responsive to constructive criticism. They keep me in the loop, and push forward in a way I have never seen before. They’re unique within the WordPress ecosystem.

I’m proud of them.
